Super Four: Lobi topple Rangers

By Ibitoye Shittu, supersport.com

Lobi Stars got off their campaign in this year's Super Four Championship edging their opponents, Enugu Rangers 1-0.

It was the matchday 1 encounter of the competition which was organised by the NPL so as to keep the Country's representatives in the Caf competitions in good shape.

Both Sides mesmerized themselves in the first 20th minute of an entertaining game, and Rangers would have taken the lead when Madu Chibuzor struck the crossbar from 20 yards after being wonderfully set up by Sanusi Sani.

Okorie Daniel then broke the deadlock in the 25th minute for Lobi Stars as a shocking gaffe from Rangers' Umar Haliru left Rangers goalkeeper, Okafor Uche helpless as Okorie scored from the left angle.

Rangers' best chance came in the 40th minute, but Lobi Stars' goalkeeper, Lawrence John was at full-stretch as he denied Taro Seun from scoring.

Infact, Lobi Stars would remain indebted to their goalkeeper, Lawrence as he again provided another world class safe before the break.

On resumption, Rangers came out smoking, and they would have leveled up in the 50th minute when Sanusi Sani and Egbeta Michael combined to set up Efe Yarhere, but the former Warri Wolves' forward's effort hit the bar.

Lobi Stars the became cautious, and their resilience was justified as the game ended 1-0 in their favour.
